At midnight on December 31, revellers around the world will raise a glass to ring in a new year — but what will be in that glass will vary widely. To help you celebrate, we’ve put together a list of five cocktails from around the world that you might like to try this New Year’s Eve, plus some video guides on how to make them. Cheers!

1. The Sazerac

Country of origin: The United States of America (New Orleans, Louisiana, specifically)

What you’ll need: Cognac, Peychaud’s bitters, absinthe, Angostura bitters, sugar, ice

2. The Tom Collins

Country of origin: England

What you’ll need: Gin, lemon juice, sugar, carbonated water, ice

Country of origin: Either Canada or England, but it is named after the Canadian city of Toronto

What you’ll need: Canadian whiskey, sugar, Fernet Branca, Angostura bitters

What you’ll need: Campari, gin, vermouth
