Tropical Kauai Wedding with Spectacular Vibrant Florals

Hawaii is a very special place for Erlas and John. Shortly after they began talking, they learned that they both loved the islands and decided that Honolulu would be the perfect halfway point (with him being in Vermont and her in the Philippines) to have their first in-person date. It was only fitting that John propose there when they visited again a few months later and that they return to the Hawaiian Islands yet again to say, “I do!”

They wanted an intimate, family-oriented wedding to celebrate their love – a love that is tangible in these photos by RTFaith Photography! Speaking of family, the groom’s sister just so happens to be an incredible florist and created seriously spectacular blooms for their big day. Filled with soft pink anthurium, blushing bride protea, vibrant orange ranunculus and pincushion protea, bold pink roses, and ginger, the bouquets and her flower crown are nothing short of tropical Hawaiian garden perfection that are for sure pin-worthy!

Between the breathtaking florals and the blissful happiness of the newlyweds, these photos are sure to put a smile on your face today!

Q&A with the Bride and Groom

How did you meet?

We first met on match.com. My husband is originally from Vermont and I am from the Philippines. Before we met we both loved to visit Honolulu, HI. After a week of conversation over the phone, we decided to meet on Feb. 10, 2018, at Magic Island Ala Moana Beach Park.

What is your proposal story?

On my birthday, he took me where we first met. At sunset time he proposed on his knee around strangers at the beach park.

What was most important to the two of you while planning?

We just wanted a simple and family-oriented wedding.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

The church ceremony.

What did you do for favors?

We had our favorite cookies, chocolate crunch and macadamia nut.

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?

During the reception we had the money dance.  It’s a Filipino tradition at every wedding celebration. While my husband and I danced, guests pinned bills on us.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Always make the decision together. Be patient with each other. Hear each other’s opinions.

What was the best part of having a destination wedding?

We are surrounded by family in our perfect time and location.

What was the biggest challenge when planning your destination wedding?

I had to travel with my wedding gown. The cost of travel expenses. Not everyone could attend because it is far.
