01 May Industry must reject multilevel marketers: Travel Weekly
If you hear of a travel agent that’s with a “host” company that makes the agent recruit agents under them to receive bonuses and such, tell them to run. Those types of travel agencies are called MLM (multi-level marketing) agencies and they are pyramid schemes. Legitimate hosts do not require you to sign any agent under you to be successful. The US Federal Trades Commission recommends everyone to steer clear of multilevel marketing schemes because they are actually pyramid schemes and therefore illegal and very dangerous!!!! Call me if you are interested in becoming a legitimate travel agency either on your own or with a legitimate host. Travel Weekly actually produced an amazing article on MLM agencies. Do not buy travel from MLM agents and do not join a MLM agency if you are wanting to get in this business!!!
Travel suppliers should step up and turn away these companies that prey on the industry.
