Aloha Friday Photos: Sunset from the Illikai

By MM Travel and Tours on in Travel

Mahalo to Steve Black for sharing this pretty sunset shot with us for Aloha Friday Photos. Here’s what Steve told us,

“Absolutely loved our trip in October to Maui and Oahu!! This sunset is from our room at the Illikai in Honolulu.”

A room with an ocean view can be expensive, but witnessing a sunset like this is priceless.

Happy Aloha Friday!

2019 Destination Wedding Trends | Weddings By Funjet

By MM Travel and Tours on in Travel

2019 is the year of the earthy, rustic and creative wedding – and we are excited!  All of these themes fit astoundingly well with a destination wedding and we will show you exactly how.  We’ve gathered 15 of the best 2019 trends we expect to see in destination weddings.  Let us know what trend you’re most excited for!

CEREMONIES IN THE ROUND

Free-form ceremony setups are in style.  Traditional ceremony rows are a mainstay, but round setups allow for a less obstructed view for your gusts and allow for a stunning entrance.  We expect a lot of beach weddings will implement this style, but we won’t be surprised if couples choose this for garden venues as well.

Hallmark Channel

ILLUSTRATED INVITATIONS

The customization is endless with illustrated invitations.  We love that couples can make their invites a work of art that is personal to them.  Sites like Etsy make finding an exceptional and well-reviewed vendor easy.

UNPLUGGED CEREMONIES

This is nothing new, but we are going to see this trend grow more and more. Asking your guests to put the phones away keeps them more in the moment with your wedding, and you won’t have phones blocking the way of great shots from your professional photographer.  Ask your officiant to politely make this announcement at the very beginning of the ceremony before everyone starts their way down the aisle.

PAMPAS GRASS

Pampas grass adds an element of earthiness to your floral and greenery arrangements.  Along with the romantic and “meadowy” touch it adds, it’s also relatively inexpensive.  We imagine we will see this a lot in destination weddings this year.

STATEMENT WEDDING CAKES

In this instapic era, cakes like these get people’s attention and leave a lasting impression.  It will just be hard to bring yourself to cut into it!

PRIVATE VOWS

It can be difficult to share intense words of love and commitment to your partner in front of a crowd of people.  That’s why more and more couples are choosing to say their personal vows to each other before the wedding and during the “first look,” and then say standard vows during the ceremony.  For all of us with mild glossophobia, this is an amazing idea!

DRONE PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY

Destination weddings especially have a landscape you want included in your wedding video.  The ocean backdrop is probably a big reason you chose a destination wedding after all!  That is why drone photography and videography will continue to be uber popular.  It’s also a bit of a spectacle for your guests to watch, like our groom Mort who was awed by photographer Devin’s flight skills.

CREATIVE LIGHTING

Lighting is such a must for destination weddings, especially beach weddings.  The beaches are rarely lit, so adding creative lighting looks magical.  Our favorite new trend is the low-draped string lighting over long reception tables. The linear style has an eye-catching symmetry we totally love.

VELVET TABLESCAPES

Velvet pieces in a wedding tablescape provide texture and depth that is stunning.  Just because you are having a destination wedding doesn’t mean you can’t include traditionally warmer materials in your reception setup.  In fact the juxtaposition is incredibly visually interesting.

NAILS WITH GOLD ACCENTS

You guys voted and picked your favorite new bridal nail trend!  Gold accents was the winner.  This look is so simple, but also wonderfully unique.

LIVING CORAL COLOR

As Pantone’s Color of the Year, we are already seeing many wedding couples incorporating Living Coral into their destination wedding theme.  We adore this color paired with a dark teal.

CLASSIC WEDDING GOWNS

Attribute this one to the Duchess of Sussex.  Simple, elegant gowns are all the rage for 2019. We’re stoked about this because these dresses work great for destination weddings.  You’ll be cooler without having to wear a ton of layers and they are so much easier to travel with as well!

SMOKE BOMB EXITS

We still love a good sparkler exit, but this is just so cool.  And the pictures?  Wow, just wow.  Also imagine this against a palm tree background.  So gorgeous!

COPPER ACCENTS

Like we said, this is the year of the rustic wedding, and copper accents fit this look so well.  We’re especially excited about the copperware and how it shakes up the traditional plating look.

ECO-FRIENDLY WEDDINGS

This is definitely our favorite trend!  Eco-conscious couples are choosing creative ways to be more friendly to our environment.  Whether they are swapping paper invites for e-vites or relying on mostly candles for their lighting, this is a trend we can get behind.  One of our favorite eco-friendly resorts for destination weddings is Hotel Xcaret with their gorgeous Las Cuevas reception venue.

A-Rosa’s E Motion Ship to Set Sail in 2021

By MM Travel and Tours on in Travel

A-Rosa’s E Motion ship is slated to launch in 2021.

The new river cruise ship will sail the Rhine, offering itineraries with a number of city break options. It will have battery propulsion and air bubbles technology for sustainability, spanning approximately 58 feet in width and four decks.

All standard cabins are over 200 square feet. Each cabin has a separate sleeping and sitting area, a balcony, an LED TV, storage space and a bathroom.

There is also a dedicated family area with a Kids’ Club and a sundeck with separate adults’ and children’s pools. The Kids’ Club is still in the preparation stage, but it will likely include thematic areas for romping and climbing, handicrafts, reading and playing.

Other onboard amenities include restaurants, a bar, a fitness room, a spa and wellness area with sauna, a heat bench, an ice grotto and massage and treatment rooms. Also included is an elevator, and each cabin outside the Family Area has a balcony. Design of the new ship comes from customer feedback, the cruise line says.

A-Rosa offers a city break, a package holiday, a cruise that takes in natural and cultural sites, and a spa break.

The Norwegian Epic spans an impressive 1,081 feet long, and offers its own Epic Casino packed with hundreds of slots and dozens of gaming tables. Along with blackjack, roulette and craps, you can also look forward to on-board Cirque du Soleil shows and many other incredible entertainment options. If you need a change from your favourite online casino NZ games, this is it!

#4: Queen Mary II

This liner might be on the smaller side compared to some of the other entries on this list, but it certainly leaves nothing lacking when it comes to its luxurious on-board casino section. Cunard Line’s flagship vessel is packed with Monte Carlo-style gaming opportunities, including 100 slot machines and a dozen gaming tables. Try your hand at blackjack and three card poker or test your luck in craps, roulette, and various other classic real money games.

#5: Royal Princess

The 1,083 foot long Royal Princess offers a myriad of casino options that will suit slots fans and table game enthusiasts alike. This cruise liner even boasts progressive jackpot games and bingo, making for a social but lucrative gaming experience.

#6: Norwegian Escape

The Norwegian Escape is renowned not only for its exotic Bahamas and Caribbean trips, but also its very own proprietary salon prive. Join Escape Casino for a few rounds of baccarat, craps, blackjack, Let it Ride, three card poker, Pai Gow, Texas Hold’em and more. There are plenty of slots (318) on offer too, as well as live tournaments for those with a competitive streak and a specialized rewards program for regulars.

#7: All Celebrity Cruises Ships

If you have money to spend and want to live it up like a celeb, we recommend that you spend it with Celebrity Cruises! This luxury line offers a wide variety of gambling options, including craps, baccarat, roulette, three card poker, and Texas Hold’em. Their proprietary Fortunes Casinos even offer tournaments for you to take part in.
