Traveling is fun, and believe it or not, it rejuvenates the mind and soothes the soul. If you are a traveler, you wouldn’t have had a good feeling about how last year went and how this year is going by as it goes halfway in the history books.
The world had to live in the five walls, and we had to be very sure of why we are stepping out of our abode. Thankfully things seem to be ok in some parts of the world, while others are still trying to come up the curve or be fully vaccinated. It’s been a tough year and a half, but it has taught us a lot.
Well, you don’t need books to teach you at all times when life is the teacher. Talk about India, the Indian culture always talked about welcoming people with folded hands and not shaking the other person’s hand, and that’s exactly how we had to live to be safe amid the pandemic. A lot of Indian customs and culture were used by the world over to keep themselves safe.
People learned the importance of simple living, high thinking because there were no parties, music, or anything of that sort outside, and we had to keep thinking highly of a solution to end this pandemic and return to our lives. Talking about culture and customs, they are not limited to a state, city, or country because you don’t implement them while you are in your own home or a different country.
It’s easy for one to say that they have a specific belief and they would love to live by it, but it doesn’t allow you to challenge someone else’s belief system. Every country, city, or state has reasons to believe in something or someone, and you should never think of twisting it.
Wear and tear could lead to problems, so if you don’t accept someone’s belief, don’t try to state that your belief is correct and not others. It does happen that sometimes we question someone else’s belief system, and it leads to chaos. Never do it when you are on different turf. Make it a thumb rule.
It took ages for a culture to flourish and become relevant. During an international trip, it becomes all the more significant that you respect other’s culture. You wouldn’t want anyone to question your culture, or would you?
Try to see how we are all connected, divided by nations, but united by the love for our human life. Life is beautiful when we acknowledge the differences with a smile on the face. Remember, it takes 11 muscles to frown and 12 to smile, and everyone loves a smiling face.
It doesn’t mean that you don’t complain if the wrong food or the food is too salty or spicy or sugary gets served to you. You paid for the food, and you have the right to ask for it. It doesn’t mean that you start complaining about how or why this food looks or smells like that unless it’s rotten.
Spaghetti is as good as Enchilada, and Misal Pav is as good as any dish of your choice. Every food has its benefits, and there must be something special about it. Never judge a book by its cover and food by its color.
You have no right to question or complain about a country’s history. Every country has a revered history, and no one in the world has the right to put a question on it. The United States has its history, as does India and United Kingdom or any other country in the world.
We have all evolved, and we need to take deep respect into the country or colony we have become. Lao Tzu said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and as a country, we all have our history, as does any other country. Let’s acknowledge that and embrace it.
Every country consists of the people that reside in it. If you talk wrong about someone, then that can be misinterpreted or miscommunicated. If a person has done wrong to you or said something to you, then you have every right to defend yourself and your honour.
You can always use the legal system to punish the person if a wrong deed of any kind has happened. Every country takes the traveler’s safety as its utmost priority, so understand that you are always important to any country you travel. Be the reason for someone’s smile.
